Las Catedrales beach, Spain 2019

Las Catedrales Beach is located on the coast of the province of Lugo (Galicia), also known as the Mariña Lucense. The place where it is located belongs to the City Council of Ribadeo, bordering to the east with the Principality of Asturias and to the West with the City Council of Barreiros.

Beach of the cathedrals.
The characteristic of the beach are the arches and the caves, only visible at the foot of the beach at low tide . During high tide the beach is relatively small, with fine sand and is still suitable for bathing. It is interesting to see the beach at high tide along the top of the cliffs west-east towards the beach of Esteiro and see it at low tide on the sand of the beach. During low tide you can be accessed by a long sand bounded by a wall rock of slate and shale eroded into strange shapes: arches over thirty meters high reminiscent of buttressesof a cathedral , caves of tens of meters, sand corridors between rock blocks and other curiosities. With the live tides , in which the tides go down more and rise more than the normal tides, you can even access the neighboring beaches by the sand, although you should be careful and come back before the tide begins to rise that the sea level rises rapidly since it is a practically horizontal stretch of coast belonging to the Cantabrian Rasa. The beach has this relief due to the effect of wind and salt water erosion.

Next to the parking lot of the beach you can find two viewpoints from where you can fully contemplate magnificent views of the Mariña Lucense
