Altai, also spelled Altay Mountains, are a mountain range in Central and East Asia, where Russia, China, Mongolia, and Kazakhstan come together- Mt. Belukha is the jewel of the region. At the time of our expedition weather was awful- it was raining every day even on high altitude; every creek turned into raging river with all bridges washed off which made our trekking very difficult. At the end we had to turn around only to discover that mudslide rushed through the valley totally destroying it.. but still Mountains there are unbelievably beautiful as pictures confirm that.
